Sometimes, rather than lash out at someone else, men chose instead to harm themselves. The ultimate form of violence against oneself is to take one’s own life.
• Suicide is the fourth leading cause of death for adults between the ages of 18 and 65 years in the United States.
• The Centers for Disease Control reported that 79 percent of suicides in the United States in 2009 were males.
• Suicide rates for men rise with age, most significantly after age 65. It is seven times that of females who are 65+.
Some people consider those who commit suicide to be cowards. RAGEWorks believes these men have the inner strength to conquer their demons and bravely face their lives. Our programs invite them to chose life and show them how to bring meaning back to their lives.
